Message from the Chair of Radio
Calderdale
Radio Calderdale has been a ‘Friend
at the Bedside’ in Halifax
for over 26 years. We now broadcast 24 hours a day on Channel 10 of your
bedside TV set, and what’s more we’re absolutely free! We provide a wide
range of programmes, inc Pop (from the 50’s to the present day), Country,
Rock’n’roll, Jazz, Comedy, Rock, Interviews and several Request Shows each
week. We broadcast all home matches live from The Shay and we have an
exclusive agreement with The Victoria Theatre in Halifax allowing us to broadcast many live
shows and concerts direct to your bedside. I joined Radio Calderdale as a
teenager over 20 years ago, spurred on by a love of music and radio. I
currently present a weekly show of 80’s music. I’ve held several positions
within the organisation over the years and am now enjoying my second year as
Chair. I am supported by a dedicated Committee, without whom none of this
would be possible. Radio Calderdale is a registered charity and run entirely
by volunteers. Many of these can be seen regularly around the wards, chatting
to patients, checking our output and taking requests and dedications. I wish
you a speedy recovery and hope that we really are your ‘Friend at the
Bedside’.
Best wishes, Rachel Fisher-Ives
(Chair of Radio Calderdale)
